Thoughts about Grace- my big sister thanks for being you.
• You were my second mom
• You were clever, kind, caring, thoughtful and a beautiful soul
• You shared everything: recipes, books, magazines, jokes and laughter, DVDs and music
• You recommended country walks, exercises to keep me fit, health tips, holistic hints, herbal remedies……my sister ‘the witch’ 😍
• I looked forward to your Personal gifts for birthdays and Christmas -homemade pickles, jams, chutneys, little lavender bags, gift cards and wraps made with such thought
• You took an interest in every member of our family all the way down to the newest members and you knew what they were good at or interested in and you were then able to find and send birthday cards which reflected this- quite amazing
• You loved arts and crafts, painting (especially water colours), felting, pottery, floristry etc and you took every opportunity to learn so many new crafts, your cosy home reflected this, you grew plants and cared for them…amazing
• Your were always interested in ‘having a go at’: tai chi, yoga, fitness classes, this was inspirational to me
• You loved the natural world, you cared what was happening to the planet with a passion and worried about what would happen for future generations and hated ‘waste’ with a vengeance
• I loved that you asked for ‘The big family’ group to be set up on Messenger so that many of our extended family could be part of it and then you contributed thoughtful, funny comments which I looked forward to reading on a daily basis. You would read and like all of the comments/photos posted by us.
• You loved our family ‘get togethers’ for Christmas, special birthdays, ‘The Winton Walks’ based from our house in Compstall, Shropshire Sishton family gatherings and took any chance for a get together. You can never be replaced and your sudden passing has left a large hole at the very heart of our family.
A personal childhood memory for me was as young girls Sue and I would sneak upstairs to Grace’s bedroom whilst she was at work. We then proceeded to dress up in all her beautiful 1950’s dresses, layered underskirts, scarves and hats etc and clomp about in her high heeled shoes. Grace was always so very pretty in our eyes and in reality too…. our lovely amazing Grace.
Later when I was a teenager and Grace was a mum to Mags and Helen in her first ‘own property’ in Green Heath Road, I loved spending time with her and the girls: learning from her watching her, helping her. I loved my lovely holidays that I spent with you all when Mags and Helen were just little kids, camping in Wales and holidaying in Strathpeffer Northern Scotland, wonderful happy memories.
Scrabble games!! You loved them and kept a keen eye on how the scores stood between you and all of us ‘little brothers and sisters’ Seven letter words were a celebrated bonus and often recorded on iPhones so that we could boast to one another. The Scrabble game was always an enjoyable part of our get togethers and that was how our days out together ended: across the Scrabble board, sharing a glass of wine. Glad to say that you won our last game together. 🩷🩷
I am going to miss you terribly Grace but you will always have in a very special place my heart.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
